When you mention cold-water surfing, the guys I think of are those surfing Lake Superior, out of Marquette, Michigan, in January. I'll have to post the one photo I have of them. I can't be one of these heroes, but it's amazing to see them out there. I mean, this is the lake where the Edmund Fitzgerald went down. I mean, wo!
Hi Scott, Yes that was me this morning, and yes it is me on the Long board bottomturn photo. Could you by any chance send me that in high resolution, that would be very nice if you could! :)
Air Asia still has flights to Bali but is quite expensive or rather i went during peak period hene it cost around S$300. But it was worth it as i get to surf for the first time.
Is there any tip for beginners? I would love to surf again but maybe another destination. Any recommendation?
What kind of board do you recommend? I'm 5'2 and petite. The board that i used which was provided by the surf school was rather large for my size.
Hi Scott, Thanks for the warm welcome! Actually, the water temp here is 70 degrees right now and getting warmer (no wetsuit needed). By the end of the month is should be near 80 degrees! RI is right in the path of the Gulf Stream, so the water is pretty warm. It'll stay warm through November. Winter is a different story though. 35 degree water in February. Full wetsuit, hood, boots and gloves.
Hey Scott, thank's a lot for your message but unluckily i haven't got any relation with this watch company but for me it's not a problem Your site is just awesome; make a social network just for surf is just amazing !
Thanks a lot Scott for accepting me on Surfer-shot. We do have great waves here in Morocco and down in the Sahara desert. We will be glad to take you with us on one of our trips :)
Actually I live in Jakarta, it needs more than 3 hours to reach the nearest surf spot from my place. I hope I can contribute to share whatever I know about surfing in Indo and I can learn anything from other surfer like you too.
